Dear Festival of Running (FoR) Coventry friends and family,
As you will be aware, on the 13th March we took the difficult decision to postpone the Festival of Running. We take our responsibilities as a major community events organiser very seriously and the impending COVID-19 virus required us to take prompt action, with people's welfare and safety being our top priority.
We said we would work to reschedule the event to a date later in the year. We have been in regular discussions with the relevant authorities. With competing urgent priorities for many of our stakeholders and partners this has not been easy, particularly in this time of national crisis. However, FoR Coventry are pleased to say that we are currently working towards a provisional date of 1st November (this is still TBC) for the Coventry Half Marathon, 5k and 2.5k Wheelchair race. The Children’s mile date is still being worked on as we speak.
As you will appreciate, organising events of this size with city road closures and safety considerations requires agreement from multidisciplinary services which takes time. We will aim for this date but this does depend on all support services feeling comfortable with this. FoR Coventry wouldn't want to be a further drain on overstretched public resources.
All the team at FoR Coventry are extremely excited and busy working hard to deliver the very best event possible to all participants. We will make a further announcement by the end of April (if not before), when we hope to be in a position to provide further clarity. Please bear with us over the coming weeks as we get these plans in place.
We encourage all participants to stick to current government guidance on outdoor activity. We would love to hear how you are maximising your one session of public realm exercise a day. Why not join our Strava club listed below. Please stay in touch with us via the following channels:
