Having seen the increasing number of people living on the streets in our towns and cities, Steve Atherton felt he could no longer sit back and do nothing about it. Following on from a conversation with a friend, Steve came up with his 56 Not Out Challenge.
Steve felt that the time was now to make a change and as he entered his 56th birthday on May 30th 2017 the challenge began to take on 56 significant challenges before he turns 57.
Not all challenges are physical, and some have tested his powers of persuasion, nerve and, in his own words, his sanity.
The aim of the 56 Not Out Challenge is to raise awareness of the homeless issue and to show what we can all do to help raise needed funds for local Coventry charity Helping Hands and national charity Shelter.
Steve has been keeping his supporters up-to-date through his blog and social media pages, but there is always more that can be done.
On March 18th 2018, Steve will be taking part in his latest challenge as he takes on the Coventry Half Marathon dressed as a red Ketchup bottle.
Keep an eye out and give Steve a big cheer as you see him and be sure to head to his Facebook page 56notout for more information on how you can get involved!
