Local children sought to sparkle and shine in Coventry leg of stage show’s second tour
Following the huge success of the call-out for Midlands children to star as the pupils of St Bernadette’s in the forthcoming tour of Nativity! The Musical, the Belgrade Theatre is now on the look-out for local kids to join the cast as their rivals Oakmoor School.
In a second round of auditions announced this week, budding performers are being called upon to sparkle and shine on stage during the Coventry tour dates only (23-28 October), so if you missed out on the first round, or were unable to take part in the full tour, now is your chance to join the magic!
In order to audition, children must first be registered with children’s regional casting directors Keston and Keston. This can be done either via the website at www.kestonandkestoncasting.com, or via the Keston Casting iOS app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
Auditions for the Belgrade leg of the tour will be held in Coventry on Saturday 7 July. Successful applicants who fall within the criteria below will be sent an invite containing full information, including the location for the audition.
In order to take part in the show, all children must:
- Be aged between 9 and 12 years old on 1st September 2018
- Be no taller than 4ft 7inches
- Live within 45 miles of the venue they are auditioning for, and be available to perform on all dates there (full tour dates are listed below)
- Be characterful but disciplined children with strong singing, acting and movement skills and a passion for performing
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 30 May.
Presented by the Belgrade Theatre together with Jamie Wilson, Entertainment One (eOne) and Ramin Sabi, Nativity! The Musical is the smash-hit stage adaptation of the original Nativity! movie, famously filmed on location here in Coventry. The show is written and directed by the multi-talented Debbie Isitt, creator of the original blockbuster film series.
Debbie Isitt said: “We are looking for characterful but disciplined children who can 'act' as snobby and superior and yet have a sense of fun and can give over the top performances if required. We need the children to have good movement ability - marching, basic choreography and have excellent posture. They should also be able to sing confidently, have basic acting ability and enjoy performing.”
Having premiered to huge acclaim at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre last year, Nativity! The Musical now heads out on its second UK tour in 2018, kicking off at the Belgrade Theatre in October.
Nativity! The Musical runs at the Belgrade Theatre from Tuesday 23 until Saturday 28 October, before embarking on a UK tour. Tickets are available to book now by calling the box office on 024 7655 3055, or by visiting www.belgrade.co.uk where prices are even cheaper.
