Amahra Spence’s Utopia plays with the idea of the absurdity in everyday life. This is the first in a series of eight commissioned planned as part of Theatre Absolute’s new project Humanistan each contemplating fundamental issues from climate change to democracy.
Amahra Spence is a multidisciplinary artist and creative producer. Passionate about carving space for marginalized identities and artists, her work elevates the voices, truths and experiences of Black Britain. She has worked with Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Apples and Snakes and Talawa, and recent work includes Abuelo and Concubine at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
