History of Caludon Castle

Drop in | £5

John Clarke OBE and George Demidowicz will be giving a talk on the history of Caludon Castle.  Both of them created and wrote the first ever book ‘History of Caludon Castle - The Lords of the Manor of Caludon.’ Published in 2014 it has been praised by both historians and the media. Over 1000 books have now been sold attracting interest from all over the world from as far afield as North America and Australia as well as publicity on TV, radio and the press.

From the noble aristocratic families who owned Caludon Castle over more than 800 years to associations with Royalty and Shakespeare, Caludon has weaved a rich tapestry of history over the centuries now lovingly documented in the first authentic research of the history.

John Clarke is well known in the city for his community and charitable work and for having launched the first ever PR agency in Coventry over 30 years ago. He is a former chairman and board director of Coventry City FC. He is the publisher and creator of the book which he self-funded.

George Demidowicz was formerly Building Conservation Officer and for 21 years and headed the Conservation and archaeology team for Coventry City Council. He is a respected historian and is an Honorary Research Fellow in the History Department of the University of Birmingham and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
